Look Inside Our Shorts

A Little About Shorts

Back in 1976, two young Fairport guys, Geoff Harder and Mike Carder, had an idea and barely two nickels to rub together. With a loan from Geoff’s dad, they purchased a place that had been, to name a few, the Prince Albert Hotel (1925), Ranscoe’s, the Gorsuch House, and lastly, Henry’s. The Shorts saga began with a four alarm blaze that took off the second story on opening day. What a start! Closed for a month after one day in business. We rebuilt, remodeled, and added a kitchen, introduced live music with bands too numerous to mention (except for legendary guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan). Mike left after 12 years and I stayed on board to navigate through some troubled times, changing course here and there to make it what it is today.

To so many great employees along the way and my family, which has been integral on this crazy ride, I thank you! And to the countless people who have graced this place and allowed me to live my dream. I am a lucky man to have about a million memories of so many wonderful souls who walked through my door, made friends, found the love of their lives, laughed and cried, and who have called this place home. I am truly blessed. And finally, to those of you who are just finding “Shorts”, welcome home!
